In January 2005 the “Institute for Software Systems in
Technical Applications (FORWISS Passau)” was founded at the
University of Passau.
FORWISS acts as an interface between university and insdustry.
From October 1988 until 2001 FORWISS was an institute of the
three universities
Munich TU,
FAU Erlangen,
and UP Passau with
decreasing funding over the years. Six research groups with different
interests were established.
The research group at Passau continued its research projects and
industry cooperations during the years 2002-2004 without funding of
the government.
